View from the beach
While planning a vacation in Ičići there are a couple of things to consider, namely the very location of the place. The main road mostly runs next to the coastline, there is a rather limited number of accommodation options between the main road and the sea. This means that to get to the sea, to the beach from your accommodation you most likely will have to cross the main road. About half of the available beds are located in the town center, the other half, however, is on the slopes of the mountain, available on a serpentine road. So, to get to the beach or to the sea you might need to drive - or walk some altitudes.
The Blue Flag awarded Ičići Beach is about 300 meters long, its two ends are marked by harbours - ACI Marina Opatija and the older harbour for small boats, Lučica. The beach is wide enough, it has a large surface area, still, during the season it can become crowded. The beach is divided into two parts: the southern side is covered with concrete where ladders are constructed as entrances to water. The northern side of the beach is gravel. Besides the main beach, the seaside promenade, lungomare running from Volosko, Opatija through Ičići to Lovran, has several spots where one can enter the water.
Classic, large hotels exist no more in Ičići (former Hotel Ičići is left to its fate), there are several villas though that run as hotels, and there are entire villas for rent, then the apartments and rooms and Camping Opatija. Daily shopping needs are served by the Konzum supermarket in the center. Ičići has its own offer of restaurants, for fine dining experiences one would go the neighboring places of Opatija, Volosko and Lovran - some of Croatia's top restaurants are located right here, in this area.
